Mission Moment: The Lasting Impact of Harmony Recovery

When I discharged from Harmony in late September 2023, I quickly discovered how vital the Harmony Alumni services would be to my ongoing recovery.

One of my first steps was joining the Harmony Hub, an online social platform where alumni share their recovery stories, stay updated on Harmony events, and connect for support. I frequently post on the Hub and find inspiration in seeing how other alumni are thriving in recovery. It’s also a safe space to share gratitude and life events or reach out for help when struggling.

The twice-weekly alumni peer support Zoom meetings have also been enormously helpful for me. The family-like community that has grown there provides support and a place where I can voice my feelings, hear how others have coped with similar challenges, and find encouragement.

I’ve also enjoyed many alumni events, such as the holiday party, picnic, camping trip, and the spring beautification project, where we planted flowers on the campus.

Volunteering with Harmony’s fundraising events like the “Step Up for Women in Recovery 5K” and the annual golf tournament provided me with an opportunity to serve the greater community.

One of the most rewarding parts of the alumni activities has been participating in the Saturday night dinner-speaker meetings. These allow alumni to inspire the current clients and show them there is hope after Harmony and a life that can be fulfilling and meaningful.

The suite of Harmony Alumni services has kept me connected to my alumni brothers and sisters and has been key to my success in recovery.

I’m very grateful for all that Harmony has done for me, and I’m proud to be part of this amazing community. Together, we are proving that recovery is possible and that life can be beautiful on the other side of addiction.

Harmony’s mission goes beyond just residential treatment. Consider donating today to support Harmony’s alumni services.
