The United States is facing a crisis in mental health.  It affects children, young people, and adults alike.  AllHealth Network (AHN) is making a difference every day in addressing this crisis.  AHN can’t solve all the problems, but we can, and we are making dramatic strides in community-based treatment, coordinated systems, and access.

And what is AHN?

• A non-profit, community-integrated behavioral health services provider in Littleton, Colorado.
• Has provided mental health and substance use services to the South Denver metro region since 1955.
• Serves a predominantly low-income population, with an estimated 80% of clients covered by Medicaid and 20% covered by commercial insurance and self-pay.
• AHN has 12 locations in Douglas and Arapahoe counties.
• AHN has providers in more than 40 schools throughout the two counties.
• AHN has providers in twelve police departments in the two counties.
• AHN employs more than 400 psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers, etc.  It employs another 100 people in administrative and other related roles.

Without AHN’s community mental health centers and services, many Coloradans would be unable to access behavioral health services.  People enrolled in publicly funded public health insurance programs, like Medicaid, have significantly more barriers to obtaining mental health and substance use treatment.  AHN now serves 20,000 clients.

The benefits of addressing mental health issues are significant for the clients and for their communities.  Mental health services can reduce homelessness, involvement with the criminal justice system, as well as physical health issues that require treatment in hospitals and their emergency departments.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the rates of both mental health distress and suicide mortality are higher in the Littleton area than in the entire state of Colorado and are acutely higher than in the rest of the country.  AHN can have a major impact on addressing these needs.

ABOUT THE ALLHEALTH FOUNDATION

Additional funding sources are essential to provide the facilities, programs, and services our clients need and deserve.   The US is underinvested in community mental health.  AHN has formed the AllHealth Foundation (AHF) to meet that need.  The Foundation has developed an aggressive agenda to ensure that AHN and its clients can benefit from philanthropy.

The Foundation is inviting the community to support the essential work of AHN.  It is asking the community to invest in AHN's life-saving programs and services; AHF offers a powerful opportunity to invest in a collaborative process that creates a truly effective mental health care and substance use approach that is a model for the nation.
