Anne Mounts – Chair of the Board, AllHealth Network; Managing Partner and Founder, Acera Partners (Acera means “pathways” in Spanish); undergraduate degree, Carleton College; MLA, Harvard
Anne Mounts, a native of Bismarck, North Dakota, has built an inspiring career blending a passion for strategic insights and a commitment to fostering growth in both individuals and organizations. As the Managing Partner and Founder of Acera Partners, a consulting firm focused on reimagining career and pay pathways, Anne brings extensive experience from her work with Vantage Partners, founded through the Harvard Negotiation Project, Interaction Associates, and hrQ, where she led the Colorado markets before founding Acera.
Anne’s leadership extends beyond business—she also serves as the Chair of the Board for AllHealth Network. “I really appreciate a board that recognizes how important the people side of the organization is,” she shared, highlighting the value of human capital in overcoming complex challenges. Anne has worked to reshape the board by focusing on diverse skill sets and creating meaningful connections. “When you look at the opportunities and risks for an organization, 9 out of 10 are talent-based—it’s about your people,” she notes.
Anne has witnessed firsthand how AllHealth’s leadership has navigated significant challenges. Reflecting on the crisis caused by payment reform, she said, “We are facing a crisis inflection point, and that’s important for the board to understand. The recent payment reform was a significant crisis the organization faced, and the organization has turned this into a benefit for both clinical and financial outcomes, which is amazing.” Her role as chair has given her a deep appreciation for the resilience and adaptability of the leadership team in turning challenges into opportunities.
A believer in strategic vision, Anne follows a guiding philosophy: “You cannot lead change from the dance floor – you have to go to the balcony and see the bigger picture.” This perspective has informed her leadership style, enabling her to create lasting impact in all her roles.
Despite her impressive achievements, Anne remains grounded and approachable. Married with twin boys, she finds balance by prioritizing her health and family. “Balancing work, travel, and home is really challenging, especially as our kids are getting older. I thought they would need us most when they were infants and toddlers, but the reality is, I think they need us more now that they’re in middle school.”
In this conversation, Anne shares not only her professional insights but also the personal values and experiences that have shaped her journey, offering a glimpse into the things that motivate and inspire her—from her treasured family heirloom to her commitment to resilience and optimism.
What inspires your generosity to the AllHealth Foundation?
“The impact of AllHealth’s work in our community inspires me to donate to the Foundation. I think this is especially important now as we are facing state and federal budget cuts that could seriously impact community behavioral health services in Colorado.”
Who is the most interesting person you have ever met?
“That would definitely be Betty Williams, who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 1976 ‘for the courageous efforts in founding a movement to put an end to the violent conflict in Northern Ireland.’ I had the opportunity to travel to Italy with Betty and global leaders to establish the first City of Peace for Children Basilicata, a community for those fleeing from wars and persecution. Learning about Betty’s incredible courage and life’s work was truly inspiring.”
What qualities do you look for in a friend?
“I look for friends who are authentic and steady. Like a good leader, good friends do what they say they’re going to do and don’t have hidden agendas.”
What do you hope your legacy will be from your time as Chair of the Board at AllHealth Network?
” I hope my legacy as a leader on the board will be the impact I had on the overall health of the board, from both a governance and relationship perspective. I’ve helped build a board that brings diverse perspectives and skillsets that are more aligned with what the organization needs today and into the future. I’ve also worked hard to create more opportunities for AllHealth to leverage the perspectives and skillsets of board members by revamping the onboarding process and board meeting structure to provide more opportunities for board members to connect and contribute ideas.
What is your most treasured possession (besides your family)?
“One of my most treasured possessions is a needlepoint purse that my grandmother gave me during one of my many visits to her home in Hazen, ND. It still has the $2 that she tucked in the inside pocket to cover my gas for the trip. It’s so precious to me that I only used it for my wedding.”
What is your greatest fear?
“A fear that always makes me shudder is the idea of being framed for a crime I didn’t commit. I try to live a crime-free life, so I don’t see this as a big risk. But the idea of it happening is such a nightmare!”
What is your favorite book?
“I wrote my master’s thesis on Virginia Woolf and her rejection of the Victorian Biography as a representation of a man’s life. Her father was a famous Victorian Biographer. What Virginia was trying to capture in her writing was a person’s inner life and ‘moments of being.’ I think she does this brilliantly in Mrs. Dalloway, especially the scene where Mrs. Dalloway is sewing quietly in her living room. That passage always brings me to tears.”
What’s always in your fridge?
“I’m on a protein kick right now, so Greek yogurt is always in my fridge. It’s a good way to start the morning with protein, although I still struggle to hit my protein target. There are some funny memes out there about the ridiculous amount of protein we’re supposed to be eating!”
